My new clown fish

I bought my first 2 clown fish back on Saturday. They're just so good looking!! Right now they're in my quarantine tank. They seem to even like the fake anemone.

Take note...it's 17 mb in size and in Quicktime. And yes, the page was made on a Mac!! Also in testing it appears that if you have Vista, you'll need to double click on the video to play it once it's downloaded.

if i were to setup a qt tank would it need a filter? I have a 24 gallon reef setup right now and im about to start introducing fish. I will be getting tiny fish so in a 10 gallon qt tank would a colonized filter be necessasary?

I'll be honest, I went fairly basic for my QT setup. Bought a standard freshwater setup for like $80 from Petco and then added a few basic things. Added a timer for the light, some stuff in the tank for hiding (the plumbing PVC pipe in the background of the vid) and a good electronic thermometer. The filter is HOB Whisper Powerlifter 20 for that 20 gallon tank. It seems to be doing the job but I'm only 2 days into actually using it.

My main tank is 65 gallons and I know I'm going to end up with some decent size fish so I wanted a 20 gallon QT in case I needed to move one of the fish into there.

I did let it run for about week before putting fish in it and I checked all the readings to verify that everything was good. I also used water from my main tank. The only thing I had to do was remove some saltwater and add fresh to get the salinity to where it needed to be.

ok cool thanks for the info. Ill get some sand and live rock for the HOB. Use it for a week or so with the qt then turn it into a frag tank

Here's the funny thing....I just checked on the clown fish, and one is actually using the fake anemone and hanging out there tonight. The other is just outside of it. I wasn't planning on putting it into my main tank but if he/she likes it, I guess I will be.

why do new anemones move to the back of the tank behind a rock? i was told that they are trying to find the best spot for water circulation, and what do you guys feed a LT? i have been told like ten different things

its a trial and error thing for them. Once they find a spot they like they will stay there untill then they wander. I have noticed my clowns hosting my torch coral. Thats aweseom now i dont have to worry about an anemone in my 24 gallon tank. I have the lights to sustain one but i just dont want to take the risk.
