Maybe I'm just slow, but...

How in the world do you use a python to refill your SW aquarium? I can't figure it out, since you should let the saltwater age for a day or so before you put it in...

Huh... That's a good question. It still would be useful to drain it, but I can't think of how you'd get the salt thoroughly mixed in.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out, but I've heard of people using it before

I use 5 gallon buckets but then i only have a 24g (+15g sump) to take care of. Although when i get the 75g (+20g sump) cycled i'm sure i will still be using buckets

Looks like I'll have to be dragging lots of 5g buckets for my 80gal... oh well. At least I can cut it in half...

Well, I don't have one yet... I think I'm going to make the DIY one I saw on a website. And since it won't come back to my aquarium anyways, I can just let the end of it drain out to whereever I want.

I actually have no clue, I don't even use my python for my sw tank, I use a turkey baster to get the crud of the sand, and use the powerhead to blow the stuff of the rocks, then I buy my water from the LFS.
We will be hooking up a RO unit for the kitchen though, for drinking and fish purposes.

I use my python like crazy though for my FW tanks.

Get yourself a 20G (or whatever size you want) storage container from Target or Walmart. Put it in front of the tank and mix your water there using the "python" to fill in the fresh water (I'm assuming it's not RODI then). Used measured amounts the first time so you can mark a line on the container and know how much salt mix to use.

If I'm doing a water change, I'll set it up at night, let it run with a pump and a heater all night, measure the temp and S.G. to make sure they're the same as the tank, then drain the tank water from the sump (gets up detrius). I use the pump and pump the new water back into the tank, causing the overflow box to work its magic, and it's done.
