I'm just getting into pod culturing for my new Mandarin. I have 80 Lbs of very well established live rock. I just want to make sure you know. Fortunately my Mandarin is more than happy to snack on prepared foods too. I took A LOT of time waiting for just the right Mandarin. I suggest you do the same no matter your intended home for it. Getting one that will accept prepared foods will help insure a healthy happy and fat Mandarin Dragonette. I waited over a year before I felt ready to add mine and had found one that was a good eater. It was the last fish in my plan. On a podcast called Reefcast, the host, Melev, talks about his "Mandarin Diner". http://www.melevsreef.com/mandarin_diner.html Thought about trying it out but haven't felt I have a need. Anyway, good luck.

Gozer,
I tried the "Mandarin Diner" ... Didn't work for me. My mandarin won't go in it ! Always swam around the darn thing. LOL

Reefcast is a cool show ! I listen all the time. Marc (melev) is very helpful also. I was talking to him last week about a RO/DI unit he sells. I will be going to hear him speak next month at MAX (marine aquarium expo).

This is the first MAX. It's here at the Orange County (California) fair grounds.

OH YEAH! I remember now. The west coast finally has a Marine Show. Man, I'm gonna have to go next year. Wish I had thought about it sooner and could manage to go this year. Oh well, enjoy yourself and report back so we can all feel uber jealous. lol
