skimmer/micro bubbles?

i seem to be having a decent amount of micro bubbles in the top portion of my tank. does it matter if my tank has micro bubbles in it?
they seem to be coming from my protein skimmer. but i cant seem to get the skimmer to stop producing them.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Microbubbles oh I hate them so. Yeah it's your skimmer. A SeaClone right? They pour out the microbubbles till they get broken in. Can take quite awhile to get broken in. I've had my Remora for going about a year now and I still get a ton of bubbles. I used some fowm to create a bubble trap and it helps but I still get quite a few.

i figured it was the skimmer. and yea i have the dreaded seaclone.lol it hasnt been running for very long so im sure it will produce less of the bubbles later on.
will the bubbles affect the tank in anyway? i am just curious.

Build up of bubbles under shelves of live rock can be somewhat bad for your rock and the bacteria that lives there. I use the sprayer portion of a spray bottle and spray inside the tank to blow the bubbles off stuff. I also use it to remove gunk from the cracks and crevices. It will settle down after awhile. You can keep messing with the air valve. You may find a position that will keep the bubbles to a minimum. Those SeaClones have to be adjusted often to properly skim. The best thing to do is replace the air valve with a precision metal valve. You'll have much more control and will be able to tune your skimmer to a finer setting.

oh ok. thanks for the advice. ill see what i can do.
the skimmer seems to not produce bubbles all the time. its like it chooses when it wants bubbles and when it doesnt.
