Do turbo snails work??/

I got two turbo snails saturday and they haven't eaten nothing!! I have diatoms and green alage. Do they eat this kind?? The alage problem is still the same. They just stay on the rocks. What do they eat?? Everyweb site just says alage so I thought green being the most common would be eaten but they aren't doing anything!! Also my new six line wrasse is picking on the alage and not eating the food I give him, but its only been about a day since I got him so I'll give him time.

well sorry i can't answer your question about the snails. but i'm having a hard time with those diatoms aswell the thing that works the best for me is to keep the lights off for a while and cover them at night. to prevent any light what so ever. cause i tried two emerald carbs and two other snails still nothing but once i started to keep the light off and cover them it slowly start going away

I had diatoms a few days ago and after having my water tested at the fish store, I got a protein skimmer and a phosphate filter pad (actually it was a poly pad that filters phosphate and everything and put it in w/ my filter) and belive it or not they are disapearing, I don't have any snails or livestock yet.
I have a list of cleanup guys that I am going to buy and turbo snails wasn't on the list for some reason, I cannot remember why.. the list was:
margarita snails
astraea coneheads
nerite snails
and a dwarf zebra hermit crab
(I had a short list because I only have a 14g nano)

crabs will eat snails if they have larger shells and in need of a new home
so i would get some empty shells (larger)

as for the diatoms leave the lights out for a few days and they should dissapear ,, check your phosphates levels if there high then do a small water change every day till there back down 10% a day for 5 days should do ,,
