Is anyone familiar with "elephant nose" snails? Saw some at an LFS today. They say they are good sand sifters for a tank too small for sand sifting stars. When I did an internet search, I did not find them, so I am guessing they are known more commonly as something else. They were roughly the same size as a turbo snail, with a brown/beige spotted shell...almost animal print looking.

Nassarius snails .... I have three of them. Nassarius snails are very useful in aquariums because eat detritus, or waste, and keep the sandbed stirred.

Nassarius are one of my favorites. I like watching them pop up out of the sand when food hits the sand. I have a boat load of them. I got them for a $0.70 a piece on ebay. Best buy of my SW hobby so far.
