Puffer

I have a porcupine puffer and I was wondering if it would be alright to put a piece of dead live rock in the aquarium with him?

It should be, though I would want to pressure-wash the rock, first, to get any old organic material off of it. They are reef-critters, so it would probably enjoy having rock in its aquarium, as long as it still has space to swim.

I will wash the rock, I read on the net they weren't reef safe. I suppose it is because they will eat the corals huh?

Yes, reef safe means that they would be safe to have with corals, anemones, crustaceans... The puffer should be fine with the dead rock though.

Thanks a lot I inherited this puffer with a 30 gal. bow front I bought last night. He is so cute I am going to keep him until he outgrows the tank. Pretty sure the person I bought the tank from didn't do any research before putting him in 30 gal. tank. I was wanting a chocolate chip starfish, will the puffer eat him?

It probably will. Puffers love eating inverts.

Yikes! A porq puffer in a 30 g?!?!?!?! That's a sad mess indeed!
Porkies get about 18" long and really need about 125gs to be comfortable.

I'm glad you know better than the person you got him from.
