its a tiny place.... primarily focused on saltwater reef tanks. It has a freshwater section... but the freshwater section is somewhat pathetic. The Saltwater section is pretty nice but a bit overpriced. The freshwater section is super overcrowded and super overpriced. The only fair price on a freshwater fish i saw was a Discus for $45. They basically have large expensive cichlids. One was at least 8 iches long and it was crammed into a tank no bigger than 10 gallons. They also had a "Red Texas" Cichlid for $400. Is that reasonable!!!!. They have some really nice reefs, but they need some more freshwater pratice. The lfs near my house is pretty big with a large selection. I feel that Eye Candy Aquariums wasnt that great.

anyways, my lfs is very overpriced but the employees are very helpful.

Cool store. Beautiful sharks. Doesn't look like there's much "decoration" in there for the sharks, though.

Re: LFS - Shark Tank !

haha. Tong's has a ray tank. They all seem like they want out. They are always shooting up at the water and splashing everything haha. I'm not sure what kind the one i saw was... it was a plain light brown and was about 8 inches long including the tail. How big a tank do you think someone would need to house those cool things. I think it would be awesome to have some rays.

I don't know but my LFS (Fish Central) knows how to compact them! lol, there were like, 5, along with 3 lion fish in a little I think 35ga tank! lol...they were like, longer than 5in and the lions were bigger than my head...I feel bad for the fish... but their usualy gone the next weekend, I guess people buy em fast! I think Rays need like, over 3,000ga if you want it to fully grow and not harm fish...you ever seen the size of manta rays!??!? Their huge!

Depends on the type of ray. Manta rays, as you say, need a huge tank. (I'm not even sure that 3,000 gallon would be big enough. They end up having a 10'+ "wingspan".) However, certain stingrays are much smaller. There's a type of South American freshwater stingray that can be kept in a pretty small (shallow with big footprint) tank.

I dont think Stores would ever try and sell a Manta Ray lol!!!!!!!! " Oh by the way, your new ray can achieve a maximum disc width of 29.5 feet with an average width of about 22 feet. Oh yea one more thing.... It can weigh 3,000 pounds... but i'm sure you have a big enough tank for it. Now let's talk prices. Hmmm I'll sell it to you for only $580,000!! What a bargain! So... will you take it? Oh yea... you might want to buy $500,000 worth of food to last you a little bit *" LOL!!

Re: LFS - Shark Tank !

Blue Stingray (marine) grows to 75cm

Bluespotted stingray (marine) grows to 67cm

Spotted Stingray (freshwater) is what they have at the Great Lakes Aquarium

These are only a few examples. There are dozens, if not hundreds of types of stingrays in the world, and they seem to either be several meters long or less than a meter.

A guess would be a spotted eagle ray, however, many rays are spotted, so I'm not positive.

Re: LFS - Shark Tank !

Did it have a pointed head, rather than the dual "antennae" of manta rays? If so, it was almost definitely an eagle ray.
