Outragous Salt Water Tank

I don't know about you but, I'd love to have a freshwater tank this size. The tank is in Las Vegas at one of the big casinos, can't remember which one, I think the Maraige. But it's freaking HUGE. Many of you may have seen it. It's got to be 30 feet long. It's behind their reception desk, and goes the full length of the wall. What got me when I saw it was how heavily stocked it was. It has some of EVERYTHING in it, even eels. They must either spend a fortune filtering it or replacing fish everyday ! Anyway for those of you who haven't seen it, I thought it was pretty awesome. I'm a freshwater Angelfish keeper but, I thought I'd share this photo for you guy's in the Saltwater hobby.

Yep - it definitely looks overstocked to me, especially since the tank looks like it pretty narrow, front to back. Hopefully the filtering is sufficent to keep the fish alive, but it sure looks crowded in that narrow space in front of the back wall!

i feel bad for them too, pretty much they can only go straight. Its weird ..in my opinion anyway..that people that dont know anything about fish...keep them successfully, and those who do know about fish it seems have just as much luck as the ones who dont.

Just slightly overstocked, but large nonetheless

Overstocked space wise, yes... Bio-wise, there has to be a huge hidden sump that doubles the volume of water that we don't see.

Re: Outragous Salt Water Tank

those casinos pull in so much money, it's probably a drop in the bucket to them to replace fish and the 'important' thing is the facade patrons see & are attracted to - keep them in spending longer.

i would love a tank that size, only deeper and stocked within the bioload.. of course first i have to get rich and have a room with a 40' long wall..

That was my first thought. Would be very nice with 1/3 of the fish.

Businesses that have huge tanks usually have a service come in and take care of them. so they probably don't have a clue still.... it is a pretty tank.

Re: Outragous Salt Water Tank

Actually, most casinos in Vegas that have tanks that big will let you see only a portion of it, which means, there is probably a much larger area that is not exposed to the public. I cannot say for all of them, but, diffinitely the one's i've visited. I live two hours away and don't go often, but, WOW! you've got to see them at least once.

Re: Outragous Salt Water Tank

hmmm...why do they only let you see a portion of them?

Re: Outragous Salt Water Tank

Mainly because the other portion will have the filters and stuff like that.

Has anyone seen the big Vegas tanks? What about the Long Beach one? I hear that Jersey has some awesome ones too? Anyone have pics of trips they've made to any of them?
