| ATP's 65 Gallon build Hi<
I started my 65 gallon reef/ frag tank over a month ago and everything is looking good. The tank i bought for $250 US which includes: 2xIce Cap 175 watts MH ballast, 1xUnknown 175 watts MH ballast, a sump, Tru Vu acrylic tank with center overflow, a skimmer (which I'm going to make a CA reactor out of it since I'm using my nautilus), return pump, broken enheim pump.
Unfortunately, the stand looks like........
Canopy.... not the best, but better than the stand
So I removed the doors, sanded everything until I couldn't see any stain left and than I stained it again. (I know, it looks like the same color lol) I replaced the hinges and put in the magnet things. (It's still pretty cool that I got it for 250
I'll post more this evening. Last edited by ATP; November 23rd, 2009 at 11:49 PM.

| Update:
I've added a new ballast so it runs three bulbs now. So now it has three 14K 175 watts halides, and two actinic and daylight 96 watts PC's. (just replaced bulbs today)
I've also added eggcrate and PVC pipes for big frag racks (like in the stores)
I'm going to put in the other side tomorrow.
I've used my life guard scratch removal kit and remove most of the scratches
fishes:
three of the four damsels killed themselves
added two clowns about a month ago
added a small blue tang on November
added a banner fish today (H. diphreutes)
-will move to 125 in three weeks. Making sure it doen't touch the corals before putting in main tank
Future plans:
Adding additional 20lb of live rock
Removing my sand bed
remove live stock and drain water so inside of tank could be polished using Novus 1,2,3 (so no more scratches fine or deep)
will put pics tomorrow |

| I'll post the pics this afternoon. I'm going to get two more today. There was three in the tank so I was just thinking it would be sad to leave this one alone and if I only get one more the one will only left by itself. So I'll get both of them.
I guess I'll have to hold on the naso until upgrade to a 270 in two or three years. |

| Great looking tank and fish ! It looks bigger than a 65G. I'm thinking about getting a acrylic tank when I upgrade. Have you tried to remove scratches yet ? |

Yea, it looks a little bit bigger. It's longer, but I wish it was wider.
I did try to remove the scratches using the lifegard scratch remove, but i'm still not impressed so I'm going to take the tank down and do it with the Novus and set it up again. Just waiting for the live rock and I'll do it so my fish doen't get too stressed.
I like acrylic tank because it's clear, but it's a pain to remove the scrathces when you have them so my advice is to be gentle and never use paper towels to wipe them. I'm going to keep with glass when I upgrade my 125 to a 270. |

or
poor mans moorish idol, schooling bannerfish. It's a type of butterfly fish. They are commonly mixed and confused with Heniochus acuminatus which is completely not reef safe. |

| this week-
one banner died on 1-29-10.
suspected reason:
doesn't eat that much
moved other two banners to 125 and doing well. They eat and everything
added:
additional 20lb. of live rock.
bought it for 2 bucks a pond. The rock was from a 400 gallon reef tank, but taken out of tank into rubber maid for 2 weeks. So most of the coraline turned white because of no light.

The tank will be for sale soon. I don't think I'll have time to run a 125, a 120, a 55, and a 65 at the same time.
So the plan is to transfer everything from my 125 to my 120 and all the fish from my 65 to the 120 except clowns will go to 125. The 65 will than be for sale and the 120 will be a Reef. The 125 will than be a FOWLR. |
