| New Tank, First Fish added This is my first try at keeping a saltwater tank. Just added my pair of clownfish yesterday. Was so hoping to keep a black and orange together and luckly they are getting along wonderfully. They are always swimming side by side, it's so cute
More rock will be added in a couple weeks. And then a couple more tankmates. But this is what I have so far... It's nice to finally have fish swimming around in there =) |

| Wow that is a beautiful tank! I have always dreamed tof having a 30gal nano cube with a pair of clowns or 5 firefish, but haven't had the room (or cash!) to build one. I love the black clownie! How many gallons is it? |

| Thankya! It's a 29g. I'm thinking about adding a purple firefish one of these days maybe. I'd say I have room for a couple more small fish and just can't decide which ones yet. |

| That's looking very nice, and the clowns are a cool addition.
I would suggest adding more live rock. To minimize the risk of a mini cycle, I would cure it in another container first rather than adding it directly to the tank. Just a thought. |

| Matt: Well I don't really plan on it, but if they plan on it is the question... lol. If they do decide to have babies I have a tank saltwater ready for the lil ones. But that shouldn't be anytime soon. Atleast I don't think it'll be soon... I don't know how old they have to be before they mate...?
Harpua: I know we need more. Going to go rock shopping this weekend. There are two LFS's in town and both sell fully cured rock. I plan on buying another big piece now and then, if needed, get more in a couple weeks.
The clowns were the boyfriends pick but they are growing on me fast. I had my two year old son watching Finding Nemo and told him we were going to go "Find Nemo" to put in the empty tank. He's been all kinds of excited about it. Soooo looks like the orange one will be named Nemo |

| Update Got some more rock today. Starting to look much better. Plus all the critters growing on and hiding in the rock are fun to watch. Just found I have a baby starfish today when I was moving the new rock in, but couldn't get a pic of it. Also kind of adopted a Spotted Cardinal today, The boyfriend's mom had one that was getting picked on bad and asked if we'd take it.
Anyways here's a couple pics of the new additions |

| Thank you all =)
Did lots of reading up, alot on this site, so I could get it all right. Sooo thank you guys for all the great info.
I have thought about the anemone for the clowns... Thinking I might wait awhile and see how things go. My boyfriend's mother has them in her tanks with clowns and it is neat to watch. She has them in biocubes so going to see how her's do with the lighting before I get one. |

| They may survive, but I don't think that the lighting in the Biocube is sufficient for long term health. Many clowns will host a LPS coral, like frogspawn. Mine prefer the Koralias to frogspawn though. LOL |

| HI - great tank - can I just offer a word of warning? I had a purple firefish in a 29 gal bio cube and it kept jumping over the back divide into the filter and damaging its fins terribly...in the end I took it back to the shop....but since then I have actually cut a strip of net and clamped it in the hatch at the back and draped it into the tank so that fish can't jump over....it might be worth considering this if you get a firefish or any other lively swimmers who are prone to jumping. |

| More pics of the tank. Pretty sure I have all the fish and critters that are going to go in it now. Added a Sleeper Banded Goby, Stripped Blenny, Skunk Cleaner Shrimp, and a Pappermint Shrimp. Also was given an anemone, I am unsure what kind it is. The clownfish has shown no intrest in it but the cleaner shrimp loves it. |

About them breeding... I really don't know how that will go. Not sure if they will and if they do how the babie will turn out. I deffently post pics if it does happen
This has become so addicting. I'm a stay at home mom/ college student now soo have tons of time at home to care for them. The boyfriend and I are talking about getting a 200g SW tank. There's so many beautiful fish and coral and things it would be nice to have a huge tank to give them plenty of room. Plus my two year old LOVES the tanks we have now. When people come over he'll start telling them whats what in the tanks... He can even say anemone now lol. I think it helps him learn having something he loves so much. |

| MizRamzi: The tank was fully cycled before anything was added. There were some snails and crabs added after the tank was cycled that were living in the live rock. The live rock had the two cluster of coral I have on it and I gave it special attention and feeding to make sure it would live. About a week or so after that the clown pair was added. After another week I got more rock. Then I was asked to take a cardianal that was being eatten in a friends tank. I didn't plan on added that so soon but didn't want to see it die. About a week later the shrimp plus a few more snails were added (had alot of algea growth and the ones I had weren't keep up.) A few days later the anemone was given to me as a gift from my boyfriends mother. I didn't want to get one anywhere close to this soon. And I'm still always fretting over how it's doing. But from watching it move around and eat I think it is in good health. The last two fish were added at the same time, which is not ideal, But kind of had to work that way. They were ordered online because no place around here ever carried them. It was easier to pay for the shipping for them both together. They were put in a QT tank before hitting the main one.
So yes, some critters in my tank were added a little more quickly then I would have liked. But knowing that I gave special care to water changes, checking stats of the tank, and do have a qt tank. They all get a very good diet of frozen and live foods. My corals have spread, become more colorful, and grown bigger since I've had them so I must being doing okay. I think having the anemone in the tank this soon is about the only REAL questionable thing I have done.
None of my fish have had any diease or died.
And if you have concerns about the things I have done you could ask me, as you see I'd be happy to try and explain, instead of posting asking others why they aren't critizing me. |
