Thanks COBettaCouple. I'm trying to buy some more, but they (LFS) want too much money for 1" little frags.

That just gets my case of MTS going.. Does a tank have to be setup a certain amount of time before adding maroon clowns?

Yes and no. Yes you need about 5-10 for your tank to cycle. No if you use Bio Spira. This will cycle a tank in 24-48 hours. Though you need some sort of media for the good bateria to live (i.e. filter sponge, bio-balls, Seachem Matrix, live rock or live/dead sand bed). My baby maroon tanks use plain old sponge filters. I will upgrade these to power filters when they get a little older.

CRAZY!!! just looked through all your messages on this thread. WOW!

You have all the species of fish I want to have eventually, minus a few. I have got so much good info from your posts (especially on equipment). You could seriously be your towns next LFS! Judging by your tank and the health of everything living in it! Your pictures are stunning!

Just out of interest how is your star fish and Clam doing? Also by looking at your pictures, it looks like you started out with sand but don't have any now? Why did you get rid of it? How easy is it to keep the sand clean?

Your probably getting bored of everyone telling you how good your doing

No seriously hats off to you!

Im right there with you guys. Mine's all stacked together in two towers. No epoxy cause im not sure whether im going to change up the aquascape in a few weeks.

agsansoo - clownfish question... how are your maroons behavior wise? do they pick on your other fish?
im contemplating maroons cause they are beautiful fish but keep hearing horror stories about how they are as bad as blue devil damsels. dont know whether to take the risk on them or go with clarkii or tomato clowns.

NirvanaandTool, sorry I took so long to post an answer. My maroon clowns are model citizens. The only time they bother the other fish is when they're breeding.

How do you make such great water movement?? I'm trying to do my like yours. I only have two powerheads and am trying to make a good current because I heard corals don't like a one way current. I'm buying about two more.

The type of flow I use is called circular flow. This is often done to produce a "suspended" environment. Due to my bare bottom. I use four powerheads, two in the top back left, two in the top right. All pointed to make the water move clockwise.

Oh!! So you just make the water move around the LR??

Yes. In a down and up movement. Bouncing the water off the bottom in the back and front of the tank.

Its all good. Glad to hear yours are well behaved. Thanks to their aggressive reputation I ended up getting some Clarkii clowns for my 55g tank. They are very well behaved as well.

Updated shots of the tank look great. Nice work man.

I also like the seamless look of the bowfront. It gives you a more continuous view. Really nice looking tank!

Oh wow, your tank is beautiful! I really want to set up a reef tank one of these days, but funds are tight right now. Congrats. A sucessful saltwater setup is quite an accomplishment. I hope I have a tank that looks as nice as yours one of these days

Thanks Dave, I finally found one big enough for the female. She's pretty rough on anemones.

Thanks MissMTS. I'm still not where I want to be with this tank. Coral growth has been slow. I hope your funds improve soon, so your can join us in the money pit ... I mean saltwater section. LOL

Well I upgraded my lighting again. Switched from an Odyssea MH light fixture to dual LumenMax3 250 watt pendents.

Old fixture:

Are you expecting the change in lighting will improve the growth rate?

Yes. Growth has been very slow with just one MH light using a 14K bulb. My corals turned very brown after my 14K bulb ran for 10 months. I now am using (2) 12K ReefLux bulbs. Corals have already started to sprout new branches.
