Is the red star still alive? :P | The red plating coral is call a Monti-Cap (Montipora Capricornus). Both Monti-Cap were grown from the same 2" frag I purchased almost 2-1/2 years ago.
As for the star. It had a fight with a hermit crab I use to have and died soon afterwards. |

| thanks for the info on that coral - i will check that out on the net some time I'm trying to get an idea of what corals to have myself when i get round to it (will be a long time) What ones would you (or anyone else who's reading) recommend for a beginner
I'm glad you're enjoying your tank (most of the time )
Sorry to hear about the star - i was enjoying his little adventures ;P
Call me slow but i've just realised you have no substrate! Why did you choose not too? Does it have any benifits? Last edited by charzar-g; August 7th, 2009 at 06:55 PM.

| Oohh will do right now - but its a bit late for me, my sand has already got going and has critturs all over it ^^ There's no way i'd pull it out now :P
EDIT: Just read it - Says beginners should stick to a shallow sand bed - at least I got one thing right!
- Read your lighting one aswell - thats the bit i don't get mostly, but your 'lesson' cleared it up a little, i will ask the lady in the shop when the time comes to it. Last edited by charzar-g; August 9th, 2009 at 11:15 AM.

| Well I just installed new VHO actinic lighting to my display tank. They are UVL Super Actinic R, 95W T12's. Last edited by agsansoo; September 5th, 2009 at 11:05 PM.

| As a newbe I have a question. I'm not seeing a sand bed. I'm sure you've explained it somewhere in this thread, but if I was to read it all, my own tank would suffer the rath, lol.
Your tank is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. It's really makes me want to tare down my 75 FW and go SW with it. |
