| new fish (need a name) My husband bought me a orange firefish today for christmas present (sorry pic of him while warming up in his bag). He also bought me a coral called Anthelia, i'm hoping my clown fish (when i get him) will host in it as i've seen several that host in things other than anemones.
I wanted to buy the clownfish first but was advised by the fish shop (who are really knowledgeable - or seem it) that they can be territorial so should be added after other more peaceful fish.
One thing, i know the picture is not the best, does he have a bit of fin rot going on in his tail?
Anna
Here's the fish (names please ): |

| Beautiful fish!
I'd call him... Kensington. I have no idea, it's just the first thing that popped into my head... LOL
EDIT: Or maybe Reginald...
Wow, I'm just full of great ideas, aren't I? Last edited by pinkfloydpuffer; December 21st, 2008 at 01:14 AM.

| What a gorgeous fish! Congratulations.
His tail does look a bit ratty. Give him a little time, see if being in a healthy tank will help.
The SW members can suggest something if he needs to be medicated.
He looks like a Percy to me. |

| Thank you everyone for your suggestions of a name. So far my husband is liking Percy. We might change it when his personality comes out a bit more and the rest of the fish are in the tank.
He's already found a cave he liked but is still busy looking in all the nooks and crannies of the live rock so i wonder if he will change his mind.

| it s a vitamin additive with b12 in it ,,, you just add to the water ,, its a corallife product i think,, but i can check,, it gives vitamins to fish to help recovery or prevention from infections, boosting there immune system |

| The fin fungus doesn't look that bad from the photo. Just keep a close eye on it. I would use vita-chem. Just soak some food in it for around a minute, then feed it to Percy. |

| Thank you, Agsansoo, i will do the vita chem with his mysis shrimps and will get some B12 stuff like Nemo addict suggested tomorrow incase i need it.
I have changed his name, been thinking and i like the TV series firefly and as he is a firefish it kinda makes sense.
So when i get the rest of the fish in the tank i will have:
Malcolm the watchman goby,
Jayne the firefish,
Zoe the clownfish and
Shepard the bangai cardinal fish unless i change my mind again (which is quite likely)

| Well i'm back to just corals in my salt water tank. The firefish died over night, i'm not sure why he was eating well last night but this morning i found him attached to the side of one of the powerheads I checked all the water parameters on saturday before getting him and they were all good.
Trouble is he is not worth taking back to the fish shop for a replacement as its a 2 hour drive for a $15 dollar fish!
Oh well, i will have a good cry i managed to kill my husbands chrismas present for me (kill as in he was in my hands i must have done something?)

Wow, I'm just full of great ideas, aren't I? | I should have called my betta (Jacky) Walter - like Walter on Jeff Dunhamm the stand up comedian. Jacky seems to always be sulking or in a bad mood (like Walter) |
