| Heh, I was going to buy that little system for my desk at work. How is it working so far? Does the filter make much noise? |

| A few questions
1) How much was it?
2) Can you put anything in it (fish wise)?
Because I really love it and I want one, but I think I would want to see movement. |

| well, Im not going to put any fish in it, just a hermit crab, or some sexy shrimp..maybe a snail. I really just wanted it to put some corals, polyps, and mushrooms on.
The filter is very quiet, and its a very nice looking set up. The light is also quite excellent. |

| it was 54 from doctor fosters..i already wanted to order stuff from them, so it would have cost more to order it from big als.
Also, do you think i should add some more live rock since all i want are some inverts and coral/mushrooms/polyps?
I have seen some videos and pictures that have shown the same tank with a few hermit crabs, and shrimp..even fish. I have no intention of fish, but some of them are quite impressive. Last edited by rileyrk190; September 19th, 2008 at 12:46 AM.

| I'm not entirely sure as i'm relatively new to SW tanks myself how much live rock you could stuff into it. If I was going to have livestock in with a bunch of corals in a tank that small I probably wouldn't have any more than you do. |

| Thanks shawnie. One of the things i was surprised at was how small the creatures are..you see pics and they look so large, when really they are less than an inch.. |

| well, my tank has been cycled for three weeks now, and i finally purchased the CUC! I bought a bumblebee snail, two margarita snails, and two hermit crabs ( a dwarf zebra, and a yellow tip). I also got a frag pack of 4 soft corals. They haven't come yet, but i am expecting them tomorrow. There is already a feather duster that has popped up in my tank, as well as another creature that i cant identify. Polyps of some sort are growing as well. i will post some updated pics soon. |

| Wow! your tank looks really good! How much did that cost you? because I was thinking about maybe trying to set up a little tank like that. Now that I've seen your tank, I want one now! |

| thanks! Well the first thing i learned is just because this tank is small, it does not mean it significantly reduces the cost. I honestly have 200 invested in this tank. Its like a money pit, but its worth every penny. Every time i stare at it i find something new. |

| thanks that was very helpful. I am having a huge ammonia issue right now. Its partly because i accidently dumped some of the water in from the bags that the coral came in and partly because they sent me so much. Now my ammonia spiked to 2.0!!!! i think my leather is going to die from it unfortunately, however everything else seems to be ok. I was able to get the ammonia down to .50 which is still very high. After two water changes i cant get it lower. Tomorrow morning i will try to get it down to zero. |

Check that nothing that was in the bags was dead or rotting.
Keep up with the water changes, and good luck!

| well the one bag in particular had very, very cloudy water. It is also the bag that i accidently dumped the most water from into the tank. The bag was also the bag my now almost totally dead leather coral came from which i am going to remove.
But that site really helped with identifying stuff. I found a thing that looks like a trilobite and a slug of some sort crawling around. |
