Ah, a FOWLR, no corals? Very nice, what type of seahorse? I have only ever seen pygmies around here.

Hi sgould, got a lawn mower blenny, to keep gobies is ok if you got the supply of live food.

Hi agsansoo, Hikari Mysys shrimp will form most of their diet, with gut loaded brine srimp once a week, they been doing a bit of hunting in the LR too, will be going down the beach and run a net through the weed and see if I can get some live wild food to give them every 2nd week.

Hi COBettaCouple, In Australia we pay between $40 - $60 each for captive breed. you can now get the captive breed seahorses from Australia in the US. Mic from Seahorse Santuary just sent his first shipment over last week.

Excellent price and I'd definitely want captive bred seahorses when we go SW. I hear they'd moderately difficult to keep - do you find them to be?

Keeping members of the Syngnathid family is not the same as a FOWLR, it is hard to keep WC due to the need to train them to eat frozen food, plus the stress of capture etc. With CB being born and raised in a captive environment, they will eat frozen foods. I have been reading and researching seahorses now for 4 months, I wasted the first 2 months. But have found a forum that is dedicated to the Syngnathid family, ie sea dragons, pipe fish and seahorses and this has helped, I have been able to ask about all things in regards to keeping SH, and one of the members is Mic from seahorse sanctuary ( breeder ) and David from saseahorses ( breeder ). Don't get me wrong, I love Fishlore and all the great people and info. I just believe that if you want to keep, say a reef, you need to find and research on reef as much as you can, not to much info here about seahorses hey, guess to answer you, I would say that if you try to keep seahorses, do a lot of research, ask a lot of questions, only get CB, are they hard to keep? no, if you do your research. by research, I spent at least 2hrs every day over the last 2 month.
My male has changed colour from white to dark yellow to light brown all in only 2hrs today... seahorses are AMAZING!

FishLore is IMO the best forum around, but we cover the whole range and there is so much to the world of fish keeping that it would be impossible to cover everything in detail and it's good to have some 'specialized' sites dedicated to just 1 species or family of species.

I'll definitely research for many months before starting a SW tank - whenever that may be. It could be a few years, but I do think about the tank and how I'd like to set it up. I'm encouraged by that information about seahorses and look forward to having them in that future tank.
