Cool looks really good. I know what you mean by the change in lights, when I recieved my reef lighting it looks so much better. What else are your plans for the tank?
If your lucky you can find zebra plecs for a hundred or under, though theirs no gurantee they will breed. A mated pair is 400-600

Re: Tank cycled
yea, i think they got mixed into the thread when i mentioned funding a SW tank with proceeds from a L046 breeding.. i just got a tank almost the same size as yours and making it a saltwater is an idea, but it must have cost you a good bit of money to set this tank up.

It's not that expensive, especially if you go ebay or basic setup, see

Re: Tank cycled
 stop it already
I constantly struggle with keeping my tank well balanced. I'm a big overfeeder. Corals that have died in my tank were from the heat, being in poor shape when I purchased them and poor water conditions. Things I learned the hard way. I try to warn others about. Like those before me.

yea, i'm sure SW is harder than FW and FW is a learning experience so you can count on lots of questions from us when we get our 1st SW tank.

Re: Tank cycled
Some new shots. Kind of hard to tell from the pics, but the algae coverage on the rocks is much better now, and I expect will improve further with more time. Other than the addition of a Purple Firefish a few weeks ago, and the addition of some Starburst polyps today, the tank looks largely the same. It is still a bit early to be adding multiple corals as the tank is only about 3 months old. The parameters do seem to be holding very stable though, so that is good news. My wife has taken to calling the firefish "Beaker" because of his resemblance to the muppet character. I about died the first time she said it because it is so true with the permanently downturned mouth.

Re: Tank cycled
Tank looks great. I really like the cave in the middle of the tank aquascape you have going ! If I can suggest a few starter corals for tank. One would be xenia coral. Xenia can pump, or pulse appearing as if they are opening and closing rapidly. Really fun to watch. Also red mushrooms are a good easy starter coral.

Thanks! The Gramma is pretty fond of the cave too, having claimed it pretty early on. There is another, smaller one, that you can't see in the pictures that is between the bottom of the rock and the bottom of the tank. The Firefish owns that one. I do have my eyes on pulsing xenia and mushrooms both. Kinda taking my time though, adding one thing at a time...its easier on the pocketbook, and gives the tank time to mature.
