| Lawnmower Blenny I am getting some green hair algae growth on my LR and was considering getting a lawnmower blenny to clean it up. Problem is I've read that these fish tend to nip at corals, which I don't have yet but will in the near future. Has anyone out there experienced this in a reef tank or heard any feed back? |

| Hi Reefdude!
I had a lawnmower blenny. Lenny was my favorite fish. He would perch on a rock while I talked to him! He would eat algae off the glass but, never touched the stuff on the rocks. I would recommend turbo snails. If you go to Animal Supply House you may be able to buy Lenny the Blenny if no one else has yet. He's a great fish and I miss him. Talk to Kevin. He may remember which one is Lenny. Tell him Candy sent you. He probably won't know who I am. Just tell him the girl who's going from SW to FW.
Good Luck.
Oh! BTW did you ever find a local club? I saw the post about Atlanta. |

| Hey Candy! I went last night and got one, along with a jumbo zebra turbo snail and another margarita snail! He is so fun to watch and he's got some really cool markings. So the tank is coming along nicely.
I haven't found a club nearby yet but, I haven't really been digging too much. I plan on going back to Fishy Business next week to get a fire shrimp and I will ask them then. |

| Did you go to FB or ASH to get your Blenny? I was at ASH today getting some tetras and I looked for Lenny and didn't see him.
Good luck with the green hair algae. The snails and water changes should keep it in check. |

| I got him at FB (I get 20% off for buying my tank there). They just got their shipment in, I love Wednesdays there! He hasn't really been going at the algae like I'd hoped but, it's only been a day and a half. I also got a jumbo zebra turbo snail who is doing an excellent job on it!
I also did a small change last night and added a little extra fresh water, my salinity was at a 1.026, everything else was good. I plan to go get a fire shrimp or 2 next week so I'm twiddling my fingers until then! |

| That snail and the shrimp will do best with the pesky hair algae and aptisia. Did you name your blenny?
Waiting is so hard. I'm still researching what I want to put with my tetras. Decisions, decsions! I'm going to ASH with a list of plants I'd liked ordered. My cheesy volcano should be here any day!
I think I may be coming down with MTS! I'm already thinking of other tank set-ups I'd like to do! |

In your aquarium info, it appears that your tank is only 2 weeks old. SW stocking is much different than FW stocking, and although your tank has cycled it is far from being stable and mature. My husband and I started off with some small frags after our tank cycled, and waited a couple of months before adding the first fish. Our water chemistry has been excellent since the tank finished cycling, and I chalk that up to taking things really slow. JMO. |

| LOL! I was just thinking last night that I wanted a bigger one and I've just started this one! Yes, the waiting is the worst part of the whole deal!
I named the Blenny Lewi, he looks like my old bulldog, Lewi. I call the jumbo turbo Brutus. The naussarius snails and margarita snails will have to hash it out themselves!
Post a pic of the volcano when you get it, kind of like mount hawk a loogie from Nemo
I'm having a hard time deciding which clowns to go with, the traditional orange and white/black ocellaris or the black and white. I have narrowed it down to those 2 types though so it's a good start! Which do you think look better? |

JMO. | I was actually talking to a guy at my LFS about getting some frags started next week instead of the shrimp, so if you think that would be the better choice I could definitely go that route! I appreciate your input! I am going on vacation the week after the 4th so I will probably wait until I get back to make any more additions other than corals. I gotta tell ya though, patience... not my best virtue! |

| Hey Reefdude,
Good names! My volcano should be here Tues., I'm so excited.
I like the look of the black and white clowns. I guess it depends on what other fish you get. I had wanted to do schools of the different colors but, they're mean little suckers! I think they would have killed each other! Nemo killed his tank mate before I had bought it. That fish had attitude!
Good luck with whatever you decide. Maybe you can find a group that get along. |

| I have a lawnmower blenny in my 40b and he doesn't go after the algae on the rocks. He likes to perch on the algae and thats about how far his love of it goes. He has not touched my corals at all yet. What he does eat though: the diatoms that grow in the sand, algae that grows on the glass and sometimes algae growing on my astrea snails shells. |

That's funny, that sounds just like Lenny. They are funny fish. |

Watching his head bob up over the top of the rocks and then back down when he didn't see anything moving is pretty entertaining. |

Reefdude have you noticed any cute habits of Lewi? |
