I bought myself one of my favorite fish yesterday the JAWFISH. The problem isnt really a health problem but it still is a problem. Unfortunately he made his home in the back of my tank behind all my live rock where 1. I cant see him, and 2, food really doesnt get behind there where hes made his home. Is there a way i can make him move from his spot? I knew that there was a strong possibility he would make the home where i couldnt see him, but i didnt think i wouldnt be able to get him food. I was just wondering if i picked up the rock and scared him out of there and shuffled the sand up a bit so his homes no longer there will he just go back to that spot and make a new one or will he find a new spot? He settled in the one part of the tank that i cant get food to and its my favorite fish, honestly the reason i got into saltwater tanks to begin with. Please any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!
How big is the tank? Any LR? How much substrate and what kind? Water Conditions? How long since setting up?
Although did ok with sand, better if substrate is mixed w/ varying size shells, rubbles and sand.
When settled and conditioned in the tank, usually came out to search for food.
How about making the thickness of substrate thicker in front of the tank and very thin layer in the back. Hopefully, he/she would construct burrow where substrate layer is thicker.
You can make a burrow out of PVC, then catch him and hold the net in front of the burrow so he goes in there. That's how I got mine to live where I wanted him, until he went sky diving.
