I am thinking of getting a royal gramma for my 29 gallon aquarium and was wondering what different forum members thought of the royal gramma.
I have chromis, clowns and thinking of pj cardinal
what is your experience with the gramma

My royal gramma is very mild mannered. Though he is only in a tank with 1 fourline wrasse. I've heard of them being a pretty shy fish, they like to squeeze into tight holes and hide. Mine is out and about quite a bit though.

It depends, some are territorial (like most fish). Most of the folks I talk to say they are relatively friendly if they have enough room. I'm not sure how much room is enough, though. I'm not much help.

Although RG is OK with you mix, just don't add another Dottys. (Purple Pseudo, Fridmani, etc).

My seem to be somewhat territorial. They are very shy at first though.

I also have a royal gramma. He's friendly and kinda keeps to himself.

The only aggression I ever saw out of him was before I got my tang and flame angel. My clowns used to pick on my chromis and if the royal gramma saw that, he'd react and move in on the clown and bare his teeth (and they have a HUGE mouth for such a small fish). Sometimes, he'd even bump into the clown with his teeth open but he never actually took a bite.

After putting in my tang and flame angel, the clowns started behaving and my royal gramma never to had to protect my little chromis.
