Watchman goby

Ok, I just got a watchman goby sunday night to liven up the live sand I recently very carefully put into my aquarium. He has happily made himself a little burrow and everything and eats the food I put in the tank for the clown and him. Today I was watching him as he is a very interesting fish and noticed something. He grabbed one of the hermit crabs by the shell and dragged it into his burrow. Is this normal behavior for this type of fish? I've never read about this happening before.

BTW, I am aware my tank is overstocked.

I'm not experienced when it come to salt water, but my watchman goby ignores the blue legged hermit crabs in my tank.

I know in the wild they form a close relationship with pistol shrimp maybe he wanted a companion for his burrow?

Lol I'm not sure what he wanted. Maybe he was just protecting his territory? I counted again recently and have my 4 crabs crawling around again so he didn't eat it. Was just a little freaky watching him grab the crab by the shell and dragging it into his burrow.

Still an extremely interesting fish to watch.
