Saltwater Fish Food - Topics related to the feeding of saltwater fish and invertebrates. It seems like new foods are being introduced all the time for the saltwater aquarium hobby. Pellets, frozen food, freeze dried, flake food and home-made fish foods are very popular. Feeding newly introduced saltwater fish species can sometimes be very difficult. Use this board to discuss your marine fish food issues or tips.

Automatic Feeders

I am going to be traveling for a week and was thinking about getting an automatic feeder for when I am gone. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions using a feeder?

I bought an ehiem automatic feeder. Expensive of course - i got it on ebay for 60.00 - i think around 100.00 on-line. I went with eheim just because of rep and i could use two different foods - wafers and flake. I use it when i am going to be gone 3 days or more. It has worked well for me. Dr Fosters and Smith usually have a good selection and usually some always seem to be on sale. I remove the batteries from mine when not using and put in new each time i use - since i use rechargables.

Looks like we lost some messages. Recap, I decided to order a couple of ehiem feeders. There was a definite difference in opinion regarding feeders, but the ehiem seem to have a good rep. I will practice for a couple of weeks and if all is not well I will ask for help from the neighbors.

Thanks to all for the input.
