Saltwater Fish Food - Topics related to the feeding of saltwater fish and invertebrates. It seems like new foods are being introduced all the time for the saltwater aquarium hobby. Pellets, frozen food, freeze dried, flake food and home-made fish foods are very popular. Feeding newly introduced saltwater fish species can sometimes be very difficult. Use this board to discuss your marine fish food issues or tips.

Your clean up crew should take care of extra food that the fish do not eat. You don't have any clean up crew listed on your tank information. If you do not have a clean up crew i'm sure I could give you an idea of what you want.

Good point with the trigger. Likely it would eat any invertabrates that got put in there. I would suggest doing very thurough weekly cleanings to try and vacuum up any detritus left behind. The lion and trigger are both very messy eaters. It should also be noted that as the lionfish gets older and larger it may start looking to your damsels and clowns as a food source.

I've looked at your aquarium info posted and notice you have extremely high ammonia and nitrates listed. These could be brought down some through the use of a protein skimmer, you say there isn't one on the system. With fish that are as dirty a bunch of eaters as large triggers and lionfish are a skimmer would help maintain water quality.

Absolutely! Protein Skimmer is one of important equiment, if not the most, on any S/W Tank, IMHO.
It can also be incorporated or use in F/W but requires Ozonizer, O3-O2 Reactor, Carbon chamber, Air drier, Air pump, etc thus inefficient.

Do you have a sump or would you require a hang on back skimmer?

Any pics of your system? Any free standing Well Known Venturi Skimmer would do standing next to sump for your 110 G tank. I am not familiar with brand since all of my Protein Skimmers were DIY venturi. i am sure someone will come along with the review. You can start by googling for whats out there!

SLOW DOWN THE FEEDING PROCESS. I am assuming your pouring in the food.....Just drop 1 or 2 items at a time...if one fish is hogging when he get full the other guys will get to eat. I hate wasted food...more tank maintenance to do later.
