clown fish acting weird

hey guys, this is my first post here, but i've been reading a whole lot and learning lots from you guys. first off, i have a 1 month old 10 gallon with 15 lbs of live rock, 3 snails, 2 false perc clowns, and a black sailfin (lawnmower blenny). my nitrate, nitrite, ph, ammonia, and alk are all good. i've had my clowns about 1 1/2 weeks and in the past few days they have been staying near the sand and hiding under the live rock, and scratching on the sand. yesterday it looked like they had ich and today i started treating it. they also appear to be eating less these past few days. i started off feeding them flake food and they ate that fine, then i added brine shrimp to their diet and they would go crazy eating that, but now they aren't really touching either... i'm not sure if it's because they're staying at the bottom and don't notice me feeding them or what. do you guys have any suggestions?

Re: clown fish acting weird

OK ... You stated my nitrate, nitrite, ph, ammonia, and alk are all good Can you be more clear. Is ammonia 0 ? Also you said that you started treating them for ick. With what ?

Aside from that, I have a maroon clown who acted funny after feeding live brine shrimp. He stopped eating all flake, frozen food for days. Then started eating again. I thought he got sick from the brine shrimp ... Not the case, he just wanted live brine shrimp. I asked the LFS about this, he said brine shrimp is like candy, a treat and not to be feed all the time. Also you should fresh water dip the live shrimp before feeding to your marine fish. Kills parasites.

yeah, my ammonia is 0, nitrate and nitrite are at ideal levels... everything is where it should be. they have white spots on them that look like ick to me... i'm treating them with IckClear Tank Buddies by Jungle. i'm feeding them frozen brine shrimp, if that makes a difference.

Re: clown fish acting weird

What I'm reading IckClear says "on freshwater tropical fish and goldfish", not sure it's OK for marine fish.
I haven't had ick in my tank yet ... and I hope I don't. Most people separate the sick fish in a QT tank. Then treat them. Maybe some else can suggest
a treatment. (like copper or garlic extreme)

Were your fish flashing ? (quick rubbing of the rocks)

Also rinsed frozen brine shrimp should be safe.

Re: clown fish acting weird

To prevent ich. Get some cleaner shrimp. They will climb on your clowns and eat the ich and other parasites off of them. If the ichclear stuff you bought has copper your live rock is doomed.
