This could be a disaster :(

Hello everyone, a couple of months ago i set up my first marine aquarium and now i may have a problem, in the tank i have, in order of addition, 6 blue legged hermit crabs, 1 yellow coris wrasse, 2 ocellaris clownfish, 1 four striped damsel, 1 false gramma.

The problem is one of my clownfish seems to have small white marks on his tail fin, however these are more like faded lines rather than the tyical 'sprinkle of salt' ICH normally looks like, but the other clown fish does have 3 distinct white spots on its body, the clownfish are acting fine and all of the other fish have no marks on what so ever, could this be ich?

I'm not exactly sure, but you could move the clowns to a QT tank and rase the temp (which is the safest way to get rid of any ICH, at least in FW tanks) and mabye pick up some meds from your LFS. I'm no expert when it comes to SW diseases so I would wait for more input.

http://www.bestfish.com/saltich.html

If it is itch, that's a really useful article I found. According to the article, unlike the FW version where you raise the temp, for SW ICH, lowering the salinity to 1.015 for a couple weeks seems to be the best natural cure (the organisms can't survive, but your fish can).

Anyway, there's lots more info, but the salinity thing popped out to me because I know my brackish tank is kinda ich-proof lol.

However, I'm not a SW expert, so I can't say if those symptoms are indicative of ich or not....

Best of luck for your fishies!!
