Ich on my damsel & clown

So today i was looking at my fish and they were actively swimming around without any problems. Tonight i go down to peak, and notice both kind of near the bottom. I know that maybe they were resting and a little lethargic because the light was off, but they still seemed a bit odd. I turned on the light and noticed that my damsel has lighter blue stripes now, and has a white spot on her tail, and two on her body. I looked at my clown, and he seems to be swimming at the bottom and i looked closely and saw a tiny spot on him too! Now i have read on this forums fish disease page to try aquarisol, which i have on hand but the bottle says for freshwater only...is there another kind?? Also is this too advanced to try the hypo salinity? If i do this will it harm my corals and inverts? I know the aquarisol is not safe for them.

Sorry about your fish. You should cure in a separate tank with medicated water. I never had ICH before but maybe an experienced ich person can help. This is more of a bump

It kind of threw me for a loop. I mean their fins arent closed which is usually the first sign of sickness in freshwater..at least in my experience. swimming fine one minute then BAM sick the next.

fortunately walmart sells melaflix it think? It could be a cheap rip-off. I have aquarisol for freshwater treatment, but its not for SW. What baffles me is its listed as a medication under the saltwater disease page. I just hope they make it because not only are they sick, but i have to tear apart my tank tomorrow and drive it three hours to school.

Ahhh I see. I hope you can find medication. It must be really stressing for the fish, good luck with it. Try to find medication now if you can. MelaFix is for fin and tail rot. I put in some for my betta still healing its torn fins since I had it in a bowl. Poor guy.

oh, haha well that is good to know! lol I guess i will cross that off my list. I use vitachem and garlic guard for my bettas tail rot that it had when i got it. Its already grown 1/4 inch in a week and a half.

My betta looks nothing like it did in a cup when it was in a bowl and now in a tank it looks better. Melafix works great. I recommend it

I've been quickly experienced with marine ICH these last couple of months. I've lost 4 lil fishes. Last night being my last one. If only I'd have had a QT tank.
I tried ICH Attack, which seemed to clear it up (from the fish only) but once I stopped it was right back. It did not kill the protozoa in the tank it's self. Only what was on the fish.
Hypo salinity can be dangerous. It has to be done slowly over time, which with ICH there may not be a lot of.
IMO the best thing for you to do is this. Remove ALL your fish from your DT, put them into a qt tank. Allow your DT to shallow for 6 to 8 weeks. The ICH will die off having nothing to feed on. There are many different meds out there that you can then treat your fish with.
Today my tank is fishless. I took my last one, a blue spot watchman goby to the LFS where they gave me credit for him. That broke my heart. I had no where to keep him for the amount of time it would take for my DT to shallow. I am now looking for a 10g tank so I can set up a qt tank. Very hard lesson learned.

Apparently, and thankfully, my fish didnt have ich. Is it possible they were air bubbles that got stuck on the fish?

My tank has REALLY BIG ick problem, so me and my mom moved our fish into the quarintine tank, and we are soaking their fish food in garlic and running copper through the quarintine tank. NEVER RUN COPPER THROUGH A REEF TANK, IT WILL KILL ALL YOUR CORALS AND INVERTABRETES. If you don't have a quarintine tank, buy one Now 30 gallons is a good size. Try to catch all the fish in your tank and put them in a quarintine tank of a good size compared to the fish. There has to be no fish in your tank for the ick to die out. Put an airstone in the quarintine tank, my two scooter blennies died because they didn't have enough air. You have to keep all your fish in the quarintine for 6-8 weeks while running copper and feeding them fish food soaked in garlic for the ick to die out in both tanks. Hope this helps!!
