Ich in my lil mini!!!

I just noticed what appears to be ICH on my lil Yellow Clown Goby. I have no hospital tank!!! At least not until tomorrow, but then how do I set it up to accept fish right away? I know I know, I should have already had a QT tank but I've had the fish for over 4wks now. Can I just do a WC on the tank and use that water for the qt tank? Man I was so afraid that something like this was gonna happen. Out of 6 tanks and the only SW has to get Ich

How big is the tank? Are you sure it is ich?

Depending on the size of main and q/t tank, you may use water form main tank to start Q/T and should not have problem with the water quality as long as feedings are well controlled.

There are many ways you can supplement bio activities to new tank.

You can start by having new S/W prepared and aerated and heater if and when possible.

Hoping it is not Ich but rather sediment attached to slime on the body!!! I havent experienced any clown gobies catching Ich in my many years in hobby.

Any pics?

The tank is an 8g biocube. What else could it be? It looks like Ich to me. Speaking from my many yrs of experience with FW Ich that is

Even though different parasites, symptoms should be similar unless amyloodinium. Feed and observe to see if it actually is a white bump on the skin, not a detritus. Since well experienced, should be able determine if it is Crypt.

If it is amylood or Crypt, what is your intended course of action in Q/T?

In over four decades of keeping, breeding fish, have seen one too many errors made by "too concerned" hobbyists causing more harm than good. Since I can not see your goby, I can not determine or suggest wether it is or not. Just concerned for Goby,

Good morning. If your fish are showing signs of ICH and it's a community tank, the entire tank needs to be treated and there is no need for quarantine. Increase the temperature in the tank to 85 degrees and leave it there for 2 weeks. Vacuum the substrate several times during this 2 weeks period to remove spores that have fallen off the fish and into the substrate. Add additional air supply as higher temperatures require more oxygen. Best of luck for a 100% recovery MizRamzi! Hope you are doing well.
(Ich cannot survive in temperatures over 82 degrees)

Marine ich is a completely different parasite than FW ich. The FW treatments, unfortunately, don't really apply in this case.

Can't treat the whole tank as it also houses inverts/corals

I've set up a 3g qt tanks. Using RO/DI water. Small heater, bare bottom. I'm going to try Copper. I just can't sit back and watch him die and I'm afraid my Fire Fish is gonna come down with it also.

Should I inform the LFS that they may have ICH in their tank?

Your forgiven for the blond moment

Well today I've moved the lil guy into his own 3g qt. I'm using Copper Safe. I want to at least give em a chance. I hope he/she makes it.

Oops sorry, just some lil lingo I've picked up from my son. Kind of rolls out the mouth.

By the way, my lil guy/gal is still alive and scooting around the tank.

By the way Aquarist48 since you visit SW and seem very interested in the hobby I really think you should set one up we would love to have you and I'm sure you got room for another tank, right?

Man I wish treating saltwater Ich was that easy. I hope there will be a breakthrough for this pesky pest in the near future.

Me too! They put a man on the moon but didn't even think about SW ICH. What's up with that?

Lil goby is still living and scooting around. He/she actually looks better

Hello. I've actually thought about having a salt water tank in the past but I'm just too happy with fresh water tanks for now. It's always in the back of my mind though
