| odd marks on purple firefish My recently acquired Purple Firefish has some odd spot on him/her, they almost seem like air bubbles under the skin but don't actually protrude from the body and are only visible when hes turned just the right way in the tank light. My first thought were ICH but the spots are too big and aren't really white.
Hes very energetic, eats alot and is probably the most active fish ive got at the moment
Any idea what these marks are? |

| Are you sure the "spots" are under the skin? And you say it looks like air under the skin? Not goldish patches on the skin perhaps? |

| when not in the light they disappear into his natural color white/grey, but when he turns a bit they become a bright reflective white but only when he is at certain angles from the surface |

| I just read a blog where a guys said that his purple firefish was moulting and had white-ish spots on him. But then I also see that salt water Ich is also similar to those spots, but it also mentions that they could get spots from not eating the right kind of foods or having a deficiency...
I really hope someone on the forum will help you real soon. Unfortunately I am not an expert. |

| yeah that was the first place i had looked and initially thought of Brooklynella hostilis a type of ich that appears in larger spots but he has none of the symptoms other than the white spots, he eats a lot, very active and colorful but does not produce the "slime" listed in this type of ich.
Also thought of this first because he lives with 3 clowns (shares a cave with my black perc )
I'm hoping its nothing major and I'll just name him Spot |

| Purple Firefish are pretty disease resistant ,,, what are you feeding as they need a varied diet to maintain there colouring,, which could be the problem with yours
so i really wouldnt worry about it ,,,,, just feed mysis or brine shrimp and should solve your problem |
