Ok... How likely is it for one of your fish to fall sick if they have all been through the proper quarantine process?

If it does fall sick is it usually down to poor water quality which makes them more prone catching something?

oops, was not finished on that one;

Also do the diseases that fish catch effect anemones, corals, live rock etc...

I do know that you are to treat an infected fish in a quarantine tank (NOT THE MAIN TANK) due to medications having bad effects on certain species!

How likely are other inhabitants in the tank to be affected if you spot the ill one straight away?

Thanks people

Sounds like you've got a pretty good idea of how fish diseases work.

Fish that get sick after quarantine are usually exposed to excessive nitrogen amounts, which stresses them, which weakens their immune systems.

There aren't a lot of diseases that can hop from fish to inverts, but they exist.

Correct on the meds.

Often, one fish will be more stressed than the others, and will get sick first. If you do water changes (many small ones in a SW tank so you don't accidentally change the salinity), identify the source of the stress, figure out how to eliminate that stress, and treat the ill fish, the others usually have a chance.
There are, however, some diseases that are really virulent, and once their in your tank, they can be devastating (there's a freshwater one that affects labyrinth fish. If your fish is exposed, things are pretty grim from the outset).

Thanks for the reply!

So am I right in thinking that even though all your fish/inverts have been put through quarantine there will actually still be certain diseases flying around your tank. Ultimately these are harmless if you (the owner) keeps your water correct and feed your habitants the food they need (not just pellet or flake crap). So healthy fish = high immune, unhealthy tank = disease can latch onto your fish?
