lost a new fish

I had just finished up getting my tank all cycled and even took in a water sample to my local fish store. They're a place where all they deal in is fish here in metro Atlanta. They tested the water and said everything was good. In my own testing, the PH is 8.2 and ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are all 0 and were again even this afternoon when I last tested.

For my first set of fish, I bought 2 green chromis on Saturday. One of them has been fairly active in the tank though a bit less so lately. But he's still going to top of the tank in the morning and swimming around. The other though only stayed in one area of the tank. Kinda of a hidden area by where the sump tank pulls out the water. This morning though, it took a bit of time finding him. He was down near the bottom hiding where my live rock is. I moved the live rock out of the way thinking maybe he was having a problem moving around it. He did move to the top of the tank for a while. Before the we out to dinner he was back hiding in the same spot. By the time we got back form dinner, he was dead.

I pulled him and noticed some dark spots near the top of his body. So now my question is what did he die of? I don't want anything to happen to the other one.

Here's a pic that I took and I'm hoping someone can give me a clue if it's possible.

Hard to diagnose from the picture, but he may have been sick when you got him. Does the store have a warranty? Most good LFS will let you replace a fish that dies within 5-7 days, assuming your water quality is ok (which they said it is).

That they do. I'm going to contact them tomorrow. I'll keep an eye on the other one to make sure he's ok but right now he isn't showing those spots.
