I have these hard white spots growing all over my tank. initially they were only on the glass near the bottom. It would take two or three hard scrapes with my algae scraper to get them off. Now they are growing on the heater, the silk plants even on my precious live rock. The only place they dont grow is on the driftwood. Does anybody now what the this is. I just bought snails yesterday will they help?

The white spots are a blessing in disguise, I consider you lucky for getting them. Some people hate the way they look and try to get rid of them because don't like white spots on their tank. That is the only negative aspect of the white spots. They are most likely either feather dusters or small tube worms, both of which very good for tank. Look closely at them some may be getting larger and forming hairs that almost look like snail heads.

They do look like small snail heads. I guess you are right. I have been doing this for 20 years but am a total rookie when it comes to saltwater. I am amazed at how much i have to learn. Thanks.
