Naked Hermit Crab

Hey All,

I woke up this morning to find one of my hermit crabs wandering and snacking on the bottom of my tank...WITHOUT A SHELL!!! What on earth am I supposed to do? Do I need to provide bigger shells for them to move into as they grow? Should I ass some empty shells? Any ideas? I have a feeling that he'll end up dying if he doesn't get into a shell? Cna someone offer me some help Thanks a bunch!!

They like to change shell sometime even if they haven't grown out of their current one too....Mine used to do that, and sometime I would have to "present them" with a shell they would crawl into as I held it near them.

Oh, aren't they freaky weird looking when they are naked?

I would get some new shells as fast as you can because they are VERY vulnerable when they have no shell. even the smallest peice of gravel of sand can pierce there skin and cause an infection D:

They are a freaky looking critter without their shells on. I was able to find the shell it left behind and set it next to it until I was able to get to the store. Within a minute or two it had crawled back into...no more naked hermits...at least for now. I did get out and buy a few different shells and put them on the bottom of the tank. Thanks for your help.
