Im thinking about starting a saltwater tank.

I have a 150 gallon and a 90 gallon tank as freash water right now both are cycled.. I would LOVE to make the 150g the salt if i can sell my fish that are in it. I know very little about salt water. I know i have to change the gravel to coral and add sea salt. Can i use the filters and heaters i have now? witch is 3 AC 110s with a 2 150 watt heaters. basiclly i need to know what i need to do and what steps i should take. ANY help will be appreciated

There's probably a little more you need to consider, including what type of s/w you want... Fish Only, FOWLR, Reef, have a look at:

Gives you a good idea on what the differences and requirements of different tanks.

You definitely would want to consider using a sump for a tank that size, it's a great place to hide the skimmer and refugium should you choose to go with either of these. Your heaters are fine, but most people choose to not use HOB filters and instead use the live rock as the filter, far superior in every regard. Another huge concern is lighting requirements should you choose to keep coral, a tank that size will need quite a bit of light. Just some considerations. Read, read, and read some more, theres always more to learn.

My suggestion would be study up on SW first then make a plan if you want to do salt or stay with fresh. If you decide to do salt do small tank to get familiar with all that is needed to know then you will have more of what it really is about. There's alot to learn about it and the more you can learn the better things will be ! I started out with a big tank( salt) and boy did I learn a leason I had so many freshwater fish in my starting that I thought how much more can a salt tank be well this was along time ago things have changed so dramaticly that it really is not that much more but does require alot of knowledge to do so. I would start out again with a small set up so that you don't go thru what I had too!!!So being that said read and read till you know everything that is the key to success for salties!!! It realley is a pleasure knowing that you can acheive in the end!You will find that everything you read tells you different don't let it get to you ,when you study you learn and when you learn about it then we all can help.Like I said knowledge is the key to success!!!! Trust me I've been a reef keeper for 12 years and now I have theknow how to start where I left off 5 years ago and wow things have changed!!! But I didn't lose my Knowledge because Iv'e been there and acheived it!!! HOW FUN!

Most people recommend going with the larger tanks to start off with. Larger tanks are more stable and should something go wrong, the large water volume gives you more time to discover the problem (i.e. a dead fish in the tank) before things go critical and everything dies. There will be substantially more cost involved with the larger setup, but supposedly you wont kill as much in the beginning. I started with a 90gal reef, but mines still cycling so only know what I've read.
