| | Fish Addict | 450 liters? That's about 120 gallons (118. something) You'll need a sump for that size of a tank. skimmer, fuge, etc. Is it a reef, FO, or FOWLR? |

If you really don't want to run mechanical filters I suggest you look into "Turf Filter". It is an algea filter that removes nitrates and phosphates. I always run some type of mechanical filtertration, usually hang on the back filter. That way you can run anykind of media, like carbon. From what I read most would recomend not run air stones in the tank. I have not quite understood the exact reason for it, but I personally am going to try it on the nest tank I set up. Asfar as adding fish it depends on how many fish you intend to add initially. The more fish you want to add initially the more ammonia it is going to take to cycle the tank. The more ammoia the longer it will take to cycle. |

| | Fish Keeper | Hi Air stones are not needed if you have a skimmer and power heads ,, as these will oxegenate the water for you , when you put a air stone in a s/w tank you find the bubbles stick to everything i.e algeas and corraline ,rocks,
I take it that you have a juwel vision 450 ,, these tanks are very hard to mod the stands to accomadate a sump due to the center supports , Not impossible .
you can use a cannister filter and using live rock rubble with a filter sponge , |
