Stocking suggestions

My 29 gallon will be a FOWLR tank and is just about cycled (fishless) after 6 weeks (added rock as I had the money). The last time I added rock was 3 weeks ago. Amonia = 0, Ni = trace, Na = 20. pH = 8.2, temp 80f. There is some red hair and green (or brown?) algae growing at the back of the tank plus on the filter intake sponge. Substrate is crushed coral. My media and substrate all came from mature tanks.

I am running 2 HOBs (Aquaclear 20s), and 2 powerheads with filter attachments (Zoomed and Aquaclear). The Zoomed swings from side to side and offers a gentle current, the Aquaclear aerates and pushes in one direction and is a bit stronger, but not overwhelming.

If this was your aquarium, what would you put in it?

I'm probably not the best person to ask, as i am in the exact same position as you, but you can go wrong with a pair of clowns ^^

A pair of clowns sounds nice and I'm a lover of Goby's!!! There are soooo many to choose from, all sizes. I have a Watchman Goby, a Timma Goby and a Fire Fish goby. The Watchman is a hoot! The Timma nips at me anytime I go into the tank, what's he thinking? He's only an inch long
Anyways, have fun stalking, read up on whatever you decide on and don't fer get yer CUC.

Thanks for the feedback!

I think that I will stick to snails for CUC (already a few roaming around in there) ... but I will do some research on crabs.

That's what my husband and I have done. A lot of people keep hermit crabs, but they sometimes decide to kill snails and take their shells so we decided to skip them! We have astrea, nassarius, and turbo snails. A peppermint shrimp takes care of any aiptasia that pops up, and our emerald crab is slowly making a dent in the bubble algae.

Clowns and gobies are nice suggestions if you like those. I'd also recommend a fairy wrasse if you want something really colorful. Plus, these beauties are reef safe so if you decide to upgrade your lighting later and try corals, you could easily do that. At the moment, our stock list is an ORA misbar percula clown, a blue sided fairy wrasse, and a yasha goby (expensive, but gorgeous!) and they get along really well. Our tank is a 50 gallon so we have room to add more fish, but even in a 29 you could keep a clown, wrasse, and small goby. I have a build thread if you would like to see what we've done.
Upgrade/build thread: 20 gallon to 50 gallon

Thanks harpua2002! ... wow ... your tank is great! Nice work ...

Thanks very much for the advice, I will certainly do some reading, then try to convince my wife that it is OK to have 7 tanks ... LOL!
