freshwater to saltwater??

Ive had this freshwater tank 3 months now and im satisfied. My uncle has 8 saltwater tanks and loves it. I would love to switch.... If i do what kind of costs am i looking at? Is it really that hard? He says he switched from freshwater after a month and never looked back. I would live out the fish in my tank of course and when theres no more fish i would switch over.

If you are going to wait till your FW fish go through their expected life cycle you could probably save enough money to set another tank for SW.

It cost more both in terms of money and time required, Fish Only seems less costly than Reef tanks as far as I know which is not much (I'm a total newby in SW)

Depending on the FW fishes you have you could be waiting for some time to switch over. As far at equipment needed for the switch it again depends on the type of SW you'll be setting up. For FOWLR a regular FW setup would be just fine. But if your going for a reef tank then it's more complicated and more expensive. There are many options however as far as finding your items online. Ebay, Aquabid are just a few where you may find lower cost items. As far as stalking your SW whether with fish or some soft corals you can find a lot on Aquabid, and Nano-Reef.com These are the online options I use besides my LFS.
Good luck and have fun! Make sure you post pic's of before and after.
