Hermit crab question

I would like to get some hermit crabs for my SW tank (not set up). Do they need anything special? There are these ones at a LFS that are so cute and small like the size if my pinkie nail

Thanks,

O really do not know much about sw hermits. I believe that depending on the species they can grow huge! I guess that as long as there isnt something that can eat them they should be ok. I hope someone else with more expertise comes and helps!

They're pretty durable, but you do need to place a variety of shells in the tank so that they can move to larger shells as they grow. They are scavengers and thus act as a cleaner for your tank...they'll eat left over fish food, algae, etc.

From what I've been told, the red legs are a little more aggressive. Not sure though...I've only ever kept the blue.

I have both colors, they really don't need anything special. I do have one that has moved into a snail shell. I was told that they will kill snails, I cant say if it killed the snail or if the snail died and it cleaned up the mess and moved into the shell. I did get more shells from my store, if you ask they should give them to you for free.
