Has anyone heard of Mrine-Max by Tropic Science? Any experience with it?

Hello Locoyo...I don't have first hand knowledge of that medicine and I don't have salt water experience. I'm sure it will be a big help to others if you let them know what the problem is, if there is one. Do you have ill fish? The more information you can provide the more help you'll receive. Have a good weekend.
Best of luck,
Ken

I guess no one knows anything about this product, and no one has had any experience with it either.

Is there something in particular you're trying to treat?

No, I saw this product at a local store and was wondring if anyone has heard or used it. I have never seen it before nor I do other stores carry it, which increases my curiousity. It supposed to aid with the natural slime coating of the fish's outer surface. It also supposed to help their immune system.

If your fish are doing well, I'd say save your money. I see so many "immune boosting" or "slime coat aid" products out there and IMO these are just not necessary. There are a ton of products out there like that and I wouldn't use them for either FW or SW. Of course, it's your call!

An update on this thread.

I got the Marine Maxx but till this day I yet to see any real benifits of it. Take in mind that is only visual and not biological. I had an Ich insident and that stuff does nothing to help prevent it. Thus I am going to say it does not do a whole lot for their immune system.

Well Ich doesn't really have to do with their immune system. It's more about the cleanliness of the water and the temperature of it as well. Have you tried to google reviews about that product? perhaps its for worms/sores/fungus etc...

Pls correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi there,

You are correct, Ich is a parasite and not a virus or bacteria. However secondary infections due to the Ich parasite are related to their immune system. With a low immune system the fish have a harded time fighting the secondary infections. This is what usually kills fish and not the parasite. The parsite rather live off it's host and not kill it.

The temperature might affect the life cycle of Ich but the water quality does not affect it one bit. salinity on the other hand has a greater affect on Ich than temperature. Thus hyposalinity is used to treat tanks with the Ich parasite.

No I have not reserched thru google, thought it might be better to heard from users in forums like this one. I might reserch it, but not really interested on the product anymore. It was sold to me as a way to help prevent Ich, which I did not see any evidence of it. Than again I am not 100% sure it was Ich, as I did not perform a scientific or biological method to determine if it was indeed that specific parasite. I was also told that it would boost their immune system. This is something I can't argue about since I am not capable to determine if it indeed boost their immune system or not.
