Hey I bought a seaclone 150 a few weeks ago and it didnt impress me although it wasnt too bad, so I just got my coralife ss 125 in today i started it up and it is blasting my tank with microbubbles. Just wandering if my fish can cope with them for a week or how ever long it takes to break in.

By the way i have 5 fish a flamehawk, blue hippo, 2 clown fish, and a pearl scale butterfly

Morning Fonz. I don't see that bubbles will hurt the fish at all. I'm sure you'll get some more responses. My tanks are fresh water and not salt so let's get some more responses just to be on the safe side. Hope you can share some pictures

Hey 48. Thanks for the input. I will put up pictures when I get home tonight. I have heard before the microbubbles can get stuck in the fish gills but that was just from one person. I hope they can stand them for a few days bc I want to break this baby in. I may try a few mods to reduce the bubbles I saw online if they can't stand the bubbles.

I have heard varying responses on whether microbubbles irritate fish, so I'm not sure what to think. I have the same skimmer you have and I'm running it in my sump (50 gal display w/ 20 gal sump). I haven't seen any microbubbles in the display but the skimmer itself is driving me NUTS!!! LOL. I can't seem to get it broken in; either it does nothing or the collection cup fills up in minutes. Is there any in-between with this thing

Constant exposure to micro bubbles are not good for fish nor corals.

Evening. Remember I don't have salt tanks , but is there a way you can break in by running it in a bucket a few days? Is it a necessity to have in your tank right away?

No, it isn't necessary, but it wouldn't really fit in a bucket. Lesson learned- we won't be buying any more cheap skimmers.

Hey everyone thanks for the replies. I figured out the majority of microbubbles were coming from a loose connection on the pump breather. I've added a few pictures so you can see how bad the bubbles were as well as a few of my tank. 48, I was thinking the same thing last night but too tired. I am going to try to stop the leak of mb's and if nothing works its going in a bucket for a few days.

Glad you solved your issue Fonz. Ours has been running for over a week and a half (past the so-called break in period) and no improvement. No microbubbles, but far from efficient operation.

We are about to pick up a used AquaMedic Turboflotor 1000 for our upcoming 100 gal frag tank and are hoping like mad it does a better job.

Some skimmers take longer to break in. My Marinland Marine Pro 100 took close to a month to break in. It works pretty good now but to begin with I was not impressed.
