Strange growths in my tank

My boyfriend and I started a saltwater tank with fish and live rock we bought from a friend. We purchased our own tank and placed the fish and live rock in it with the assurance from our friend that all was healthy and good. So far the fish have fared fine.

However, I have noticed several strange growths in my tank. There are several strange things on one particular piece of live rock that did not come directly from the tank we got the fish from, but from his sister's saltwater tank. He at first stated that it might be green bubble algae but after doing a little research the growths do not look at all like green bubble algae.

They look like the heads (or top halves?) of jelly fish in that they are generally round, and look almost like a transparent skin with small clusters of white mold growing on the inside... his sister did have anemones growing in her tank, but i can't seem to find one that looks like these particular growths. (i almost mistook them as part of the live rock until i noticed them growing). I can imagine them as something having hitched a ride on the rock because a star fish from her tank (albeit a very small one) also somehow got into our tank that was originally hers....

any ideas?

bah i know D: but i can't seem to find my digital cam >.<...

it doesn't have any tentacle growths on it...

it really almost looks like part of the rock in the way it grows...or like someone cut the top off of a jellyfish and stuck it on there...

I Found Out What It Is!!

I finally got a chance to visit a not so local fish store and was relieved (i think) to find out that the strange growths in my tank are actually little sponges!]

i still can't seem to get my digital cam to work with the comp but here's a pic i found online that is almost the same as mine...only mine is a little whiter.
