feather duster??

hi just brought this piece of live rock its been in the tank an hour and something popped out the side of it i think its a feather duster but just wanted to make sure im right?

do feather duster really grow that quick They can grow that big in a hour......

Matt, it isn't that the duster is growing, it's that it can retract itself inside the tube when it feels threatened. The feathery part of the duster is the crown, which allows it to filter feed. That's generally the only part of the worm you'll see... but ours completely left the tube once to build a new tube for itself in another part of the tank, so we actually got to check it out. The rest of the worm looks pretty gross, LOL.

WOW..... maybe it was not getting food in the spot so it moved.... that is a sight I would want to see

LOL.... there is a HOB filter plus 2 Koralias, and we feed phytoplankton a couple times a week. Seems it could get food anywhere in the tank, but I guess we'll never know.....
