Ok, I feel like a complete idiot but here's my question. How do I work these freaking lights on this tank? Please keep it simple as possible. I would love to put them on a timer but can't until I understand how they work.

If the 14g lighting is the same as the 8g then I would say you have 2 cords to your lighting?
Take one cord that turns your daylight stuff on and off and put it in a timer then set the timer to whatever lighting cycle you like. Keep the switches to on while pluged into the timer.
Then the other directly into the plug in (it will stay on all the time) Its the night light.
Thats how I have mine.

Sorry ya'll but I'm still confused. One switch turns on white light, one switch turns on blue light and the moon light stays on all the time unless I unplug it. But I can leave both blue light and white light on all the time unless I turn one off. Do I leave the blue light on all the time along with the white, or turn it off at certain times of the day?

You can use both the lights.

The blue lights are your actinic lights. Often they are turned on half an hour to an hour before the white lights, stay on with the whites during the day, then stay on for half an hour or so after the white lights go off at night. The moon light (little LED light) can stay on all the time, but will only be noticeable at night when the other lights are all off.
