A few questions...

I'm a fresh water gal, and my next door neighbour is giving a 10-15 gallon glass tank. (We haven't found the size yet.) She aslo has a 250 gallon SW set up with a blue tang and a Maroon Clown (Both about 16 years old)

SInce her husband died she hasn't been able to look after it. She has about $10 000 worth of equipment and other SW accessories (55 Gal salinity mix tank, SG meters, massive sumps and HOB filters...) She's willing to give me SW sand and lots of live rock for free, as she's getting rid of the tank as soon as the fish are gone (It's built into a wall, so me getting it is out of the question)

In a 10-15 gallon, is a SW set up even feasible? Or is it better to stick fo FW until I get a big tank. Can you only have a reef set up with inverts in something so small? Are there any fish that would suit this size?

Ever so sorry about all the questions, just I'd like to be able to know now if it's worth it or really not.

Thanks for all your help

It is possible to run a small SW tank. The larger the better as far as stability, but entirely possible to do one if you invest enough time and attention to it. There are fish and inverts that are fine in a 10ish gallon tank as well. If you are seriously considering going to SW, I'd strongly encourage you to start doing some serious research. If you know FW, you can figure out SW. It's not that hard, it's just different and can go badly quicker. Patience is way more important with a SW set up IMO.

I'm pretty much a SW newb myself (less than a year), but I'll do my best to answer anything I can.

Another newb here and I've just started a 8g bio cube. I love it! The expert at our LFS says he too really likes them. Mostly due to them being so self contained. Although being small means needing to pay closer attention to water chemistry once a routine is established the care is easy. I'm sooo excited. Have fun and good luck.

I think I'm unfortunately going to have to wait with the SW, I'm going to university in two years and I'm already leaving my loving parents with two tanks to look after...I highly doubt they'll want all the water changes and all that';s involved. One for the future
