ICH is the devil

seems i have the worse luck with ICH.. freshwater and salt.. i lost 2 False Percula Clowns, an Royal Gramma, and an Neon Goby to the desease... so my tank has just been roamed by 5 Hermits, a Coral Banded Shrimp, and an young Blenny for about a month... my Q is.. is it possible to just have a Damsel tank? since they seem to be the hardiest but with the knowledge of them being territorial seems not possible with a 55g long... and ive read that its inverts that make it easy for ICH to break out.. with all this said.. whats the Hardiest fish out there?? and what am i doing wrong??

oh and my tanks been set up for months now and the live rock hasn't shown its colors.. instead brown algae has tooken over it.. i know i need more hermits but what else can help this problem??

thanx
Corey

What's your lighting cycle? When I was running 10 hour light cycle I had slime algae and diatom issues all over to the point it was not manageable. Reducing my light cycle to 8 hours has eliminated both.

As for hardiest fish, the real cure for ich is to prevent it. Try not to overfeed, QT fish before introducing them to the display tank for 2-4 weeks and try to run a UV Sterilizer. I have not had any ich problems but I seem to have horrid luck with all the clowns I buy having brookynella.
