Super mature tank, now what?

My SW nano is 8 months old now, the cyno is gone, hair algae, etc gone.. I have a population of copods, and other little helpful creatures.
My live rock is purple with coraline algae, and nemo is looking super healthy...

But, I have a ton of macro alage of different types. How do I cut it down without causing problems? Its obviously helping the tank with nitrates so I don't want it all gone.

My husband was going on about how I should get some new coral, etc for it.... I am thinking more cleanup crew, and another powerhead lol...
I want to wait to ad coral until I get my westie tank in full bloom with live plants, and breeding.

My guess is your going to have to keep trimming. Your other option is to get a fish (i.e. tang) that will graze on the micro algae. Eventually eliminating all the micro algae.

How much flow do you have in the DT now ? In case you opt for the powerhead.
My vote for a new coral would be Zoanthids. It would be a reefer's idea of giving flowers for mothers day.

Well, lol coral being like flowers is true, and they do last a lot longer. After the 100$ flower arrangement for my birthday, I let him know fast 100$ worth of fish stuff is just as pretty to me, and I could keep it forever!
And people wonder why I don't have expensive jewelry... my fish tanks are the answer.

What kind of grazer would be good for a 14g biocube?
I have the reg filitration system and a nano powerhead right now, do I need more flow?

Ok we have a 12 step program for your MTS addition here at FishLore. I just don't have the link. I think our sponsors deleted it. LOL

As for grazers for a 14 gallon. That is a tough one. First ones that come to mind are turbo snails and Lawnmower Blenny's. If you choose to go with the Lawnmower Blenny, buy a small (young) one. This way you can train it to feed on alternative foods like Formula 2.

Here's a photo of some of my zoa's. (the ones on the left)

I will have to check out those lawnmower blenny's.. my local aquarium store has such a "deal" coming up I don't think I can turn shopping there that day down. Its a huge sale storewide, I got food, chemicals, etc that day dirt cheap.

I love your zo's! Is that chalice on the right?

I think you realize how bad your MTS is when you really really need to slim down your tanks and you come up with silly reasons everytime someone offers money for your tank up for sale not to sale it. (I turned down 11 offers on my nano)

The only tanks that have been "out of service" are because they had a crack that was too bad for repair (only my 5g bowfront, which is holding water outside on my deck, waiting for a couple tadpoles for my son, I put a ton of silicone on it, since it doesn't have to be pretty for the froggies)
I have made plans to give my kids my 10g tank, and still make offers to them of "how about a pet mouse?" instead and me keep the tank.

I have 2 more tanks lined up that I n eed to go pick up at my moms, a 29g angel tank, and a 10g plant/snail tank. I couldn't turn down. Now finding room for them was a problem but easy when I told my husband the angels can go in my bathroom and the planted can go in my bedroom along with my 36g bowfront fry tank. Then my living room and kitchen tanks aren't going anywhere!
