Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Have a 90 gallon,
live rock tank which has been doing great for several years.
Probably let
nitrate get a bit higher than I should have, but
ammonia still 0.
Illness started on an Imperator angel (no fish are new to the tank).
Began with cloudy eye and light coat of brownish shaggy looking stuff on body and even on eyes. Slight fraying of fins. Started with formalin-low concentration- but fish dead in 4-5 days.
Powder blue next and no shaggy growth, just wasting and fraying over 24 hours and dead.
2 oscellaris clowns next. One with a white filamentous strand 2 inches long hanging from it.
Changed water 20% sevral times throughout and treated with melafix, triple sulfa and metronidazole as well as formalin based product.
Down to a terminal red sea tang in a
QT tank and a queen angel and a hippo.
Clearly not lateral line disease, no ulcers, perhaps some whitish coating on body but red sea tang clearly became darkly discolored.
Fins frayed, gills not overly red.
Any ideas, and also what should I do when I lose the whole tank which I fear is imminent.
