Nervous beginner...

Hi All,

My dad left the house about 2 years ago and since then our fresh water tank has had very little love. After settling down at work i have decided to under take the task of re doing it and i was thinking of turning it into a salt water tank. The tank ( as far as i know ) is 850 litres, it has 4 air bricks ( if you call them that!) and 1 large and 2 smaller pumps. It looks as though the filtering was done through some sort of white stone/sand, and also 2 temperature controllers?

Sorry i am very new into all of this and have very little idea of how it all works but i am hoping you guys can help me out! I really like the idea of a salt water tank but what am i going to further need to get started? i believe it may be an expensive road however i am very interested in the outcome.

Read, read, read some more. You can never learn enough. That is one big tank you have there!! Sooo many possibilities.

The single biggest piece of advice I can give is research. That is key in a successful SW tank. And never be afraid to ask questions. There are very few dumb questions and even it is, you'll always find people more than willing to answer it!!

Have fun with your new tank! RESEARCH all and every place that has information. Also, i was in your shoes a little over a year ago, decided to do a FO (fish only) tank, and man was that a hard lesson to learn! whatever you decide, live rock should be a DEFINITE, or expect to do 25-50% water changes every week. Other than that, RESEARCH AND PATIENCE are your new best friends. ♥♥♥
