I got a pair of tank bred/raised Ocellaris Clownfish, one is a little larger than the other, and a
green chromis (store only had one, I'm getting 2 more in two weeks). I hadn't originally planned on the Chromis but as soon as I saw him in person, I liked him, almost color changing as he swam around the tank in the shade/light. I am stopping by my girlfriend's house tonight to get my camera, but the lights will have already gone out when I get home at 11pm. I hope to get pics tomorrow. I got them this morning and they looked great in the tank, and even ate some food before I left for work.
Quick question on feeding, do I need to turn the pumps off? Or can they just chase the food in the moving water? For my 55 freshwater I just turn the power switch off (lights are on a different power brick) so they can get the flakes and so I can scoop up any excess uneaten food. I find my water has been a lot cleaner during water changes since I've started that routine.
Oh, as for the clean up crew: 20 blue leg hermit crabs, a bunch of cerith, nerite, nassarius, and nerite snails (probably 50 total in all), 4 turbo snails (I didn't realize exactly how big those guys are, lol), and 2 brittle starfish.
I also got a nice sized starburst polyp from the
LFS over the weekend and it looks amazing, especially under the actinic lights.
I'm already planning (after Xmas) to get a metal halide/T5 fixture that is 760watts, 2x 250 MH and 4x 65watt 460nm actinics. The current fixture will go over a 55 fish only tank that my roommate wants to set up which will house a chocolate chip starfish, a niger trigger, a lionfish, and some other "mean" fish. Over nex summer I'm planning to build a new stand/canopy for the tank that will cover the brown lip on the upper/lower edges and allow for easier access to the
sump, as well as for a few other ideas I have.
Anyways, hopefully pics tomorrow!
