Difference?

Hi everyone,
can someone explain to me what the difference is between a normal tank and a nano tank?

Nano's are the small SW tanks, then you have a pico tank ( less than 2g )
Its all to do with the size of the tank

oh yay another Aussie!!

anywho, oh ok, i've seen some nano tanks that are quite small and have had more than 2 clownfish in them and i've talked about having a 300mm by 600mm (unsure of how many gallons, but bigger than the nano tanks i've seen) and having a few clownfish in and people are saying that's definitely not big enough for them. i dont get it!

My classification:

Nano - 5gal - 20gal (some of those aquapods, biocubes, nanocubes that are 24gal fit here too)
Pico - 4gal and below

People overstock, you can't always trust what you see. A 10gal could fit a pair of small clowns like Ocellaris Clowns or Percula Clowns as the only fish. But thats the smallest tank i'd put them in. The larger more aggressive species like Maroons need larger tanks.

Exactly. Just because someone else did it does not mean it should have been done or was a humane decision in the best interest of the fish. Personally, I wouldn't keep even small clowns in much less than a 20 gallon tank. Yes, people do it, but I would not.

I don't know anymore. I ran across some people that think anything 55g and smaller was a "nano".

Compared to their native habitats (the ocean) any tank could be considered nano! I really can't think of any saltwater fish I'd keep in a "pico" tank.

well picos are more for corals and hermits or snails, sometimes they are for good live rock just to see what grows on it after a few weeks.
