newbie needs a bit off help please.

Hi. I have had my tank running for 3 and a half weeks now. On week 3 I put in my clean up crew. at the moment my water is nitrate 10, nitrite0.1, toxic ammonia 0.01. Is it ok if I do a 10% water change on the week 4. And also i have no fish yet so will i need to feed my inverts. I do have fully cured live rock in there with hermit, turbos and cleaner shirmp. Thanks guys.

Nathan.

welcome to fishlore nathan. i was told that it is ok to do a water change while cycling, although i'm not sure if its necessary. IMO the ammonia and nitrites will cycle to 0 in the next couple of days. i think you are better of that way. what kind of fish are you looking at. i usually introduce new fish to coincide with my water change so i can use the water to acclimate the fish and put the new water in the tank. i'm not sure about feeding the cleanning crew. i think the live rock may be enough for now. i introduced mine with fish so i never had that question. i hope i was able to help. this is the first time i'm trying to help someone so i'm pretty excited. good luck.

yes, you should do daily 50% water changes until the readings are 0, otherwise your inverts might be in trouble.
